The wealthy, politically connected developer has it all over the jobless guy who can't remember the last time he paid his taxes. Except for this intangible: Bradbury is on a mission. And he's obsessed.

OGDENSBURG - Two employees of the Academy at Ivy Ridge have been charged by St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies with failing to prevent a 14-year-old from being assaulted by other students in September.

Rice Lake Day Treatment Center - Wisconsin
The Rice Lake Day Treatment Center will not reopen following its suspension by the state related to the death of 7-year old Angellika Arndt.
Northwest Guidance and Counseling Clinic board president Denison Tucker informed the state of that news in a letter dated Nov. 10.

Spring Creek Lodge Academy - Montana
On Oct. 7, 2004, just days before her 17th birthday, Karlye Anne Newman slipped into a bathroom at Spring Creek Lodge Academy—a behavior modification boarding school outside Thompson Falls—and hanged herself in a stall with her sweatshirt.
The Sanders County Sheriff’s Department investigated Newman’s death, found no signs of foul play, and ruled it a suicide.
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) also investigated Newman’s death.

Bay County Boot Camp - Florida
PENSACOLA -- Seven former juvenile boot camp guards and a nurse were charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child for the death of a 14-year-old boy, who was roughed up by his overseers during a videotaped altercation, a special prosecutor said today.
Hillsborough County State Attorney Mark Ober's announcement comes almost 11 months after Martin Lee Anderson collapsed on the exercise yard at the Bay County sheriff's camp in Panama City on Jan. 5. Guards said he was uncooperative and refused to continue participating in exercises. He died the next day in Pensacola.

Rice Lake Day Treatment Center - Wisconsin
Six months after 7-year-old Angellika "Angie" Arndt died after being restrained at a Rice Lake, Wis., counseling center, prosecutors filed negligence charges Thursday against the facility and a staff member.
Northwest Counseling and Guidance Clinic, the Frederic-based corporation that owns and operates the Rice Lake center, was charged in Barron County Circuit Court with negligent abuse of a resident, a felony. Staff member Bradley A. Ridout was charged with negligent abuse of a patient causing bodily harm, a misdemeanor.
Prosecutors allege a number of failures by the firm, such as faulty training and not consulting medical records. Prosecutors accuse Ridout of improperly restraining Angie.
"From the time of her admission to the time of her death, there had been numerous acts and omissions by employees of the facility that had compromised Angie's safety," John Knappmiller, chief investigator for the Wisconsin Department of Justice, said in charging papers.

Academy at Ivy Ridge - New York
ALBANY — The Academy at Ivy Ridge will not be allowed to operate as a private high school in New York.
The state Department of Education has rejected the Ogdensburg institution's application to be registered as a nonpublic secondary school, citing academic program deficiencies and health and safety concerns for its students.

Convictions announced in the restraint death of 7 year-old Angellika Arndt:
MADISON-Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager announced today that a Barron County corporation has been convicted of one count of felony negligent abuse of a resident.
Lautenschlager said that Barron County Circuit Court Judge Edward Brunner convicted Northwest Guidance and Counseling Clinic, Inc., doing business as Rice Lake Day Treatment Center, 413 South Main Street, Rice Lake, Wisconsin, of one felony count of negligent abuse of a resident. The corporation was convicted after entering a no contest plea.

Bay County Boot Camp - Florida
A former juvenile boot camp guard charged in the videotaped beating and death of a 14-year-old boy says he tried to help the teen when he realized something was wrong.
"I feel terrible," said Charles Helms Jr. in an online interview with ABC's 20/20, a version of which aired Friday night. "It's a devastating thing. I can only imagine what it would feel like to lose one of my children, one of my sons."
Martin Lee Anderson died Jan. 6, a day after seven guards - Helms among them - punched and kneed him when he refused to complete a required running drill at a Panama City boot camp.
